Every bead used for the handles on these utensils is unique because they are hand made on the torch.
The beads are made by cutting strips of glass from wine bottles. The strips are heated in the flame of a bead torch and the molten glass is wrapped around a steel mandrel. The bead on the mandrel is placed in a kiln for annealing. After annealing the bead is removed from the mandrel, polished and threaded onto the utensil.
