Bear in the Woods

From design to build, my latest project was both fun and challenging. I was asked to design a window for a cabin in the woods. The client already had two stained glass windows, one a fish and the other a pheasant, made for this cabin by an artist that no longer does glass work. He wanted a window for above the door with a bear in it to continue the wildlife theme. He brought some photos with him when he came to the shop to talk about the design. After our meeting, I had an idea of what he was looking for and came up with some sketches. A design was approved and then fabrication began.

Choosing the right glass for this piece was the most challenging part of the build. I changed the glass for the grass and water twice and the glass for the bear three times looking for that perfect combination. When this panel came off of the table and into the light for the first time, I knew that the changes were worth the effort. The client said that this window turned out better than he could have imagined. Another happy customer of Three Rivers Art Glass.
