Life by the Drop

When we are creating in the shop there is always some music playing (usually blasting loud). The “Life by the Drop” jewelry series is named after one of my favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan songs.

This series is made by Lacey, our in house flameworker, wire wrapper and all around amazing artist. She makes each individual glass drop on the torch then selects the perfect combination of size and color for each piece of jewelry. The drops are then wire wrapped and assembled into waterfall earrings, single drop earrings or pendants.

Because this jewelry is handcrafted in house special orders are welcome. Customize the number of drops and color combinations to create that perfect piece for yourself, a friend, or even a whole bridal party or group.

Bear in the Woods

From design to build, my latest project was both fun and challenging. I was asked to design a window for a cabin in the woods. The client already had two stained glass windows, one a fish and the other a pheasant, made for this cabin by an artist that no longer does glass work. He wanted a window for above the door with a bear in it to continue the wildlife theme. He brought some photos with him when he came to the shop to talk about the design. After our meeting, I had an idea of what he was looking for and came up with some sketches. A design was approved and then fabrication began.

Choosing the right glass for this piece was the most challenging part of the build. I changed the glass for the grass and water twice and the glass for the bear three times looking for that perfect combination. When this panel came off of the table and into the light for the first time, I knew that the changes were worth the effort. The client said that this window turned out better than he could have imagined. Another happy customer of Three Rivers Art Glass.
